Sunset Maternity Photography in Columbus, Ohio

Should you have maternity photos taken?

My answer will always be yes, and not just because I’m a maternity photographer.

Should you have maternity photos taken?

My answer will always be yes, and not just because I’m a maternity photographer.

I didn’t have my own maternity photos taken with my first child, and I absolutely wish that I had.

It’s such a unique and special time, and like most things, it goes by too fast (though, trust me, I know it doesn’t always feel like that when you’re in the middle of it!)

My reasons for not doing it were like many that may have crossed your mind, mainly I just didn’t feel like one of those beautiful, glowing pregnant people!

But I wish I would have focused on the reasons for doing it…

That it would have been the last photos I had with just my husband, and probably the pup (who rarely makes the photo cut anymore, sorry Harper!)

That it would have captured how excited and in love we were with this baby girl of ours we hadn’t even met yet.

That I would have had those photos to show to my daughter, who is now old enough to love looking at “old” photos of us from before she was born.

It’s a moment in time, that you’ll want to be able to look back at and share.

You better believe I’m having them done this time around, not just once but twice!

Fall Color in Columbus, Ohio

When to capture the best Fall Photos in Columbus, Ohio

When is the best time to capture Fall color in Columbus, Ohio?

Like most things involving nature and the weather- it’s almost impossible to know!

If you had asked me prior to this year, I would have told you to schedule your photos for the 2nd or 3rd week in October.

But this year those weeks felt more like summer & were full of 70, and even 80 degree days. There was very little color around the area. The fall leaves really didn’t peak until the very end of October, and the color even lasted into November!

But…

Does the gallery above (taken early October) still feel very Fall like? Yes!

There are so many other factors that can give your photos a certain look and feel.

In this case styling played a huge role in making this session feel like Fall was in full swing.

I also worked some extra editing magic to warm up those trees :)

Bottom line =

There is no “perfect” time to take photos for Fall or otherwise. The important thing is to capture those memories with your family as they are in this moment in time.

I guarantee when you look back you won’t notice the color of the leaves, but your laughs and connection with each other!
